Can a dead sampler motor keep the Heater fan from working?

I just had a sudden failure of the HVAC fan in my 1993 300E 3.2l. The sampler motor had been squealing but now ther is no sound and no fan at any setting, high , low or auto. I checked the fuses and even rotatred them to make sure that there wasn't corrosion, but still no fan. If the sampler motor failed, would it cause this?

Thanks
Greg

According to the wiring diagram the aspirator blower is powered by the same circuit, Fuse 7, as the aux pump and mono valve. Fuse 7 also powers the push button control unit, which I suspect activates the blower motor. If the Aux pump runs in a call for heating then the aspirator also has power. The main blower is powered by "Fuse 15 Auxiliary Fuse Holder 30 amp" as of Chassis end number A292112. Otherwise it is powered by "Fuse 1 fuse/relay box".

I would pay some closer attention to Fuse 7. Sometimes they develop a small hairline crack and appear to be good at a glance but don't conduct.

Dont know if this is going to help you or not, i had problems with my fan, squealing at first, over time the fan itself siezed. i was able to get in to the blower motor, unsieze it by hand and spray some lubricant on there as a temporary fix. still running strong now after a couple months... i know replacment motors are kinda costly all depending on which brand you have...

E3002.8

How did you get in to the blower to turn it by hand?

Thanks

It turns out that the strip fuse on the shock tower is broken. Is this a dealer only item, or can the be purchase elsewhere? Has anyone ever replaced it with a regular fuse? If so, what amperage?

Thanks
