Mercedes 300E headlight wipers

I searched, but didn't find anything. If you can redirect me, please do. I am new and finding my way around here.

The headlight wipers on my fathers 1990 300E were both not working when we bought it, but now some dumbass went and snapped one of them so it just dangles down instead of staying up.

Did the housing for the motor break, or just the motor. I would like to replace both motors.

Can I buy some universal motors, or do I have to special order them?

Thanks in advance.

You'd have to take out the headlite unit to see if the shaft or the mount broke. Its really easy...like 3 screws, the wiper panel is 2 screws. You can JB Weld the plastic retainer if its intact, if the shaft/motor is busted then get another. The motors aren't too expensive new, and there are many used ones around cheap. Yes, you need the specific MB motor for each side.

Or you could ditch the wiper system and get a non-wiper panel for under the headlite. They are cheap too like $15 each. The USA wipers while cool didn't work so well with the junk USA lites the USDOT made MB put on, and almost never sit right after you acuate them. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps....

You're welcome ...

I should add that one of the wiper panel screws is under the turnsignal, not readily apparent if its your first time. Just release the turnsignal's clip from inside the engine bay, it'll slide forward and out super easy. I think all you need is an 8mm socket too..or is it a 6mm(?), grab both ! Shouldn't take more than like 10-15 minutes to take the lite out first time. Good luck.
