18x10.5 on a W124? Sure, come on in!

Just thought I'd try out some wheels I have for sale before they're gone. I knew that they wouldn't tuck under the fenderwells, but it was worth a shot. There's actually a lot of clearance inside, around 3 inches. What that seems to indicate is that if these wheels tucked in a bit more (they're ET20) and if you didn't mind increasing your negative camber some they would fit with some rolling. It also indicates that the matching 18x9 ET20s that I have for the front would also fit with AMG spacers and some mild metal work. I suppose that buying a pair of narrower BBS outer shells would work for the rear as well to eliminate some of the work.

Anyway, just thought you guys might get a kick out of these pics:

With 18x8 245/40/18 I have 1 inch on the inside so im sure 18x9 fits with a 40mm offset... I'm going to have to try it one of these days or when my wheels get here...

How much more room do AMG spacers give? I'm positive that my 18x9 ET20 would fit the front with some work. If I don't sell the wheels they might become a long-term project to eventually make them fit. haha

Actually I'm wrong, 18x8 with a +38mm offset would have a 6" back space so 18x9 with a 30mm offset should fit without expensive mods other than fender rolling or you you can still get a 40mm offset and use 10mm spacers..

You know what. I have a barrel from a 3pc wheel and im going to measure the backspace and see what i can get away with...
