well i had my stupid abs light come on and off for about two months and i tried lots of things to fix it. at the same time my check engine light was coming on for my shot o2 sensor. when i replaced my o2 sensor the abs light stopped coming on 
so idk wtf is up with that but the moral of the story is that weird things can happen to a 20 year old car with original electronics. maybe you can take something from this and remedy your own problem
