Suspension Question!
I think quite a few guys here run without spring pads and have they have not experienced any additional noise. That said, I would warn against not running at least a thin disk of hard rubber or plastic to prevent the spring from eating into the perch. If you get rust started in that perch, well, you can imagine the bad stuff that could happen in time.
So if I were you, I'd just lower it with some after-market springs

o def wanna lower the car problem is that H&R only makes 1.2" drop and im looking for something in the 2" vicinity
you might want to check out vogtland springs- I think they lower the car more than H&R. I think Intrax also makes springs (zorroamg has these) that lower the car more than H&R. With those springs and no spring pads (with a high pressure hose) you should get a fair amount of lowering.
If you're lucky, your car will currently be on the thickest spring pads, so you will get the car to drop quite a bit more when you pull them out.
DO NOT CUT YOUR SPRINGS. Big mistake.

thanks guys i talked to a few ppl who cut 1/2 a coil and they told me if you cut it no more then half, the ride will not be affected and the drop should be almost .5"
BTW: i know my signature says 1994 E320 but the car in question is a 1992 500E which i just picked up 2 days ago

my front springs are cut OEM springs, and my rears are vogtlands with no spring pads. i have no problems with noises or handling, but like was already said, it's always best to just get lowering springs and do it properly.

C'mon bro. you have a 500e and you're thinking about cutting your springs?
Don't do it. Springs really aren't all that expensive. It's the shocks and the labor that are expensive, which you will have to pay for if you cut your springs or not. You're looking at saving maybe $200 by cutting your springs. Just buy the real deal. With the combination of using the shortest springs you can find (not sure who makes springs for the 500s) and pulling out the spring pads, you're gonna get pretty close to 2".
Albert, I did a google search for "high pressure hose" and found lots of stuff. Maybe you ARE having a blonde moment!! lmoa jk
