I took my 500 down to miami and back in april. I averaged
about 20mpg. There are plenty stretches of 95 where the
speed limit is 70mph, with most cars going about 80. If
you're observant and careful hitting 100+ mph is easily
done. By the way, I probably won't be doing the road
trip anymore with the price of gas being what it is these
days. A plane ticket is cheaper, and that's not counting
the cost of a motel room for the night, as I did half the
run on the first day and finished on the second. I'm sure
the towns along 95 are going to hurt economically. I've
made this run for years and the number of northeast
license plates has dropped dramatically. I'm sure most
folks look at the cost and opt for the plane ride.

For a while we lived both in N.Y. and S. Fla. I made the trip a few times in my 500E. A bit over 1200 miles - usually did it in 17-18 hrs. With pets aboard we never shut off the car. I've made the same trip in BMW's and SUV's, my 500E is definitely the superior road car.

im not 2 sure with the capacity of the gas tank but at one point we squeezed 450 miles to the tank, so the car did pretty good in my opinion

The 500 has a 23 gallon tank including reserve, giving you about 19+ mpg.

I get about 16 around town and about 20 on the highway. My 2006 E500 gets over 25mpg on the highway even at speeds in excess of 85mph for extended periods. At high speeds over 80mph the mileage of my 1992 500E falls off into the teens.

well the good news is that we never filled it to the top always about 20 gallons so that would make it 20+ which is not so bad
