why would someone want to get bulbs with a red or blue cap? IMO it's going to look funny during the daytime because the color is going to be reflecting in the housing and very noticeable. it will look like you have red or blue tinted headlights during the day. i'd rather go with the regular MTEC ones without the colored caps. but I guess it's what you like.

on another note, headlights look nice. as for the corners, i would've used some chrome bulbs that light up amber so that you can't see the amber reflecting and just have a clean look.

Thank you for the explanation. I'm curious about trying to get a bit more light. I wouldn't say my OEM lights are bad, but I think a little brighter and whiter would be nice.

I am really interested in light output, but I thought a little spot of blue hiding in my lights might look neat on my blue car.

Once mounted, you can't even see the colored caps, its more of a gimmick than anything else.

ditto. I read all about the light swaps and see pages and pages of lights on eBay so I know this must be a "real" issue. That said, I manage to see just fine with mine...albeit my lights are not as blue or bright as a JDM style projector setup, but I'm not driving blind at night either. Am I just lucky because a '95 has the best lighting provided for a US spec W124?

Yeah, the 95 lenses are the best OEM DOT lenses for the w124. That said, the euro lenses are way better than your lenses, and a proper projector setup will blow both out of the water. Ah well :|

I think the Mtec bulbs with colored caps are the same price as the ones without, I would of never paid more for the colored caps.

2PHAST's suggested H4s are great.

I put a pair in my Cab today and tonight I'm running some winding wooded roads in the Pocono Mountains. The new bulbs are surprisingly effective, filling in both long range and wide view with clean, clear light.

Absolutely, these are the best I've had...I will have these in all cars.

Thanks 2PHAST, bright, useful lighting is quite a gift to share!

ksing, dooooit!

The '95 Cab has stock housing, the wagon has lights from a 500e and the white Sportline has Depos. These Mtecs are my best upgrade per dollar spent ever.

I had forgotten about switching them and I realized as driving that the road was incredibly visible. THEN remembered why.

what's everyone's take on these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-95...spagenameZWDVW

Are they worth the money or are they fluff?

Excellent Shan, even if they are fluff they are nice glass lenses and I want them anyway!

Edit: I messaged the seller asking if any other colors could be installed in the bi-xenon setup other than 6000k and 8000k as I would prefer 4100k to 5000k for best visibility on the road. I await his response If so, I will jump on these and will hopefully be putting 3000k into the foglight spot afterwards

Shan, those are just depo euros with a cheap bi-xenon kit...they won't do any better than putting a bixenon kit in your existing lights AT ALL...they will still throw random light and glare everywhere since it's a halogen reflector with fluted glass.

Well said - it's like someone neatly packaged the first dumb mistake and pitfall many of us narrowly avoided with our first headlight upgrades LOL

Save your $$$$ - put in the Eagle Eyes (?) Zorrow has or the nice bulb upgradethat 2phast switched to.

BTW 2phast has a DIY site on an HID projector mod with clear lenses.

Yeah, I saw that 2phast is actually selling his bi-Xenon setup out of his E500. All you would need to do is repaint the bezels to a matching color, and a killer set could be yours!

I love the look of Markie's lights, but he get's pissy when/if we attempt to copy him. I'm just gonna throw a light bar and a quad pack of Hellas on mine...Thomas Crown style!

for what it's worth, 2phast's method is a little trickier than it looks... trust me...

For less than the cost of parts, you can have these. No need to make your own set, just re-paint the bezels.

What about the aftermarket glass housings that have NO fluting on the front lens panel what-so-ever? Would a bixenon (with shroud) that's properly aimed still spray light dangerously? I know there would be some extra glare because of the Halogen Reflector housing, but I think it might be alright. my friend has a shrouded HID bulb in his halogen Scion TC housing and the cutoff is fine and there's no glare that I've noticed.

Thanks Zeddy, trouble is I cant find those for sale right now nor am I sure if they have pre-facelift in the unfluted glass lenses. Ah well, in any case, thoughts about what I asked?
