what year? chrome door handles
I have a 1987 300e and was wondering what year did the chrome handles come on. I think it was just a strip of chrome on the handle not the whole thing.

1990 300E
I have a 1990 and it has the chrome handles.
I think they came in 1990 along with the other exterior upgrades in the w124. I'm not 100% sure if they were standard or options in 1990.

They came in 1990 along with the lower cladding panels replacing the strips and the new interior pattern on the leather seats and full wood trim on the doors.

I agree the chrome handles appeared in 90 with upgraded interior as you point out. Also automatic closing of windows and SNRF with locking of car started in 90, but full door panels started in late 89.

What are you saying that your CE can't do? If you are referring to self closing windows, it should. Leave a window down. Close the driver's door and lock it. Hold the key in the locking position, and the window should roll up autmatically.
