Hi !
Isleifur from Iceland here..,
Have you replaced your fuel filter? - If not, I would recommend that.
-But I also once had a similar problem in my ī92 300CE 24v, where replacing the rotor and cap solved the problem. That is, if your car is equipped with that kind of ignition system. Some cars had the DIS system, Distributorless Ignition System, but I believe that were only the 320 ones.
If your car has a rotor and a cap, I would also recommend replacing that. The rotor can sometimes fail that way without any visual damage.
Cheers,

Fuel filter is my vote, too. It's in the back and can be found by removing the cover when you stick your head under the car in front of the right rear wheel.

I have replaced the fuel filter, the rotor and cap.
All the ignition cabels, The CAMSHAFT POSITION SENDER UNIT, spark plugs...
You name it...
I read about a EHA!? Anyone who knows how to check the condition of this unit?

The thing I find weird about your symptoms is that you only experience them in 3rd or 4th gear at 4500 RPM. I would think if it's a fuel, mixture, or ignition issue, it wouldn't matter what gear you're in right?
In other words, you don't have these symptoms if you're in 2nd gear at 4500 rpm?

Well, in higher gears under acceleration the load is greater. Demanding more fuel. - Sounds very much like fuel delivery problem.
-How about your fuel pump? - Does it make an abnormal sound? Louder than it should.. ? Noisy.. ?
Chances are, your pump isnīt delivering what it should. - You might want to replace the pump... - just a thought. Have seen it happen on several occasions.
