18" Wheel/Tire configuration for 1992 W124 300CE
Guys -
I'm looking to upgrade the 16" on my 300CE to 18". However, the vehicule is currently in Africa and I am thousands of miles away... i want to make sure i get the RIMs and tire configuration right.
Can somebody please advise:
#1. what offset i need for a 18x8 RIM such that, the tires flush exactly with the fenders? i do_not want the tires to budge out of the fender if u see what i mean....
#2. Rubber/Tire size for the 18" RIM
i hope i can get some help... thanks.
Please see thread below for the pics of the 300CE with 16" wheels on it...

Attached is a picture of the 18" wheel i would like to buy for the ride - comments and advise please. thanks.

for 18x8 you should look for a 35 offset, that's what many here run with (at least I know i do) and have no rubbing issues. tires 225/40/18. my experience on african roads is you're going to have issues fixing your punctures... used to use inner tubes, but i'm not sure if they have those easily available for low-profile 18" tires? also, the bigger wheels are going to make your car look like it's sitting a lot higher, so then you are going to want to think about lowering springs...
that looks like a camer number plate on your car, right? what happened to you guys against togo... you better get it together next game

They come in an offset of 32. You will have to roll your fenders or have an alignment shop put a slight camber on the front of you car.
I had a set of 18x8 et32 in chrome on my cabrio.

500E Signal Rot
The largest diamater wheel you can run without problems is a 7.5", if you run a 8" diamater wheel, it will rub. So to correct rubbing issues, the inner fender lip needs to be rolled, possibly adding the AMG fender/bumper spacers as well, as your tires will rub on the bumper lips also. By adding negative camber to your alignment, it toes the tires inward, away from the fenders. But do be aware that running excessive negative camber will greatly shorten your tire life, maybe 5-8k before you will need to replace the tires.

Will I really have to lower the vahicule? i already think it's low enough, especially considering the state of the roads where it's @
Now - what will be the difference installing an 18x8 ET32 and 18x8 ET35??
i ask this because i'm leaning towards TSW Montage 18" Gloss Black RIM and it does not seem to come with an offset of 35 - check out this link. scroll down and look for Montage

The number after the ET isthe mm offset of the wheel.
Should be no problem.
