95 e300d turbo Q

I took my car to the merz shop for oil change and regular check up. The guy who owns the shop he is diesel merz fanatic, he told me that he can put turbo in my car so I would have torque ( I admit, I could use more power on this car) but I said I dont want any modifications on my car and expenses, so he said He can do it for good price and its easy to do it, because 98 e300td uses same engine but with attached turbo on it, my Q is: Is it true? And/ Does anyone has 94 95 E300D with turbo?

1995 E 300 Diesel
That is an interesting idea...other than the turbo, what else would he have to modify? Was he proposing to add the intercooler, electronics? Sounds like it would be plausible but expen$ive...
Do you have any more info?

Your car is all about fuel economy, adding a turbo wont help that.

im no expert but turbos are pretty much the same in concept from car to car. i'd imagine that you could modify the turbo system in your car just like the one in any other turbocharged car. turbo timer, blow off valve, down pipe, larger turbo, bigger intercooler. granted, none of it will be a simple bolt on like on tuner cars. . . it all depends on how much money you are willing to spend. i've always wondered what kind of performance you could get from modding a diesel benz. especially if you had a set up that allowed you to turn the boost down when you need the economy. i say do it. it could be pretty awesome. anyone know how much boost these motors will run in stock form? and perhaps how much the stock internals will take?
