new here have a quick question......
well i just got my dads 93 400e(have always loved this car the day my dad bought it off the showroom floor) and now it has about 192k miles on it.....and overheats and the p/s pump whines.....so i go and check out the engine and find that the fan clutch is engaged but the fan isnt moving. so i go to check pricing for parts at my dealer....
come to find out my fan clutch is $768 and a new water pump is $340.......
so i was wondering would i be able to just put a slim electric fan in there and wire a switch to the fan as a cheaper solution to replacing the fan clutch? obviously i will be replacing the water pump as it has not been replaced.
pics of my car will come soon. just gotta clean it up a little.

1995 E320 SE, 162,000 Miles (Sold)
Congrats! These cars are timelessly attractive.
If the fan clutch is engaged then the fan has to move if the water pump spins. Anyway...
Don't go to the stealership for parts, they are all over EBay for very reasonable prices.

also, another good place to get mercedes parts for a great price is:
http://www.autohausaz.com
their prices are about the best you can get for new OEM parts, plus every order I have gotten from them was shipped usually that day and was very accurate!
