Brake bleeding

I have a MityVac evacuator that runs off my compressor to evacuate the engine oil. It also came with a brake bleeder 'kit'. However, unlike in the MB procedure where you replace your brake reservoir cap with a metal one that has fittings on top (for a power bleeder).....this set up is for pulling brake fluid through the individual caliper bleeders, while you keep checking the reservoir. I don't see why I can't accomplish the same outcome with this set up, correct?

Also, on my ABS unit ('92 300TE 4matic), I don't see a bleeder screw as pictured in the manuals (supposed to be under that black plastic cover when you remove it). Did the earlier ABS units not have this bleeder or is there supposed to be a plugged orifice for one?
