Whipple, that is some awesome stuff. Good thing you have the Quaife in there helping out, now spoon on some Hoosiers at around 20psi and see what happens.
Justin, last I remember you were still having wheelspin issues despite the drag radials, probably due to questionable track surface. I think we had previously discussed that you seriously need to get a limited-slip diff in there in order to drop your times further (along with checking out why your tranny appears to be slipping under WOT, based on the tach readings). Then some 150 NOS jets... hmm....
Thanks Dave,
Yeah if you are trying to run hard out of the hole then the lsd is a must. No way to heat drag radials consistently and launch without it on an old worn out diff.
I hope to have some tires on next time out at the end of the month. We will see.
im probably picking up a CE from seattle in the future.. checking out your car is def one of my plans.. how reliable is the setup on an m104 vs a m103? and hows it on mpg?
I am going to build another set for a fried that has a 3.6 in a 190 after I get done with these.
They will be smaller primaries and collectors for the hp/tq output. Probably 1 5/8 and 2" collectors.
Got it done and drove home. The sound is very different. Very mono tone under load. Still has the rasp but more refined. Sounds more like a M3. I think a resonator or two would fix it for sure. Either that or R.T. cats. Will get on it a little tomorrow and see how it feels.
So far nothing has caught fire or melted or fallen off. The fuel mixture is all over the place wrong. To lean almost everywhere except mid-upper throttle in the lower rpm range. Have not really opened it up yet to see what she will do. I switched back to regular gas so I think that I will have enough injector to tune on these for now and switch to bigger next spring for e85.
Finally got around to putting some resonators on and finishing up the exhaust. I may make a couple changes next year but thought I would share. Also do not know if I ever posted a picture of the car so threw that in there. Getting a whole new drive train with larger diff and custom axles and driveshaft over the winter and composite roof. Maybe a few more things to but we will see.
Ran another 12.38 but at a lower trap speed a few weeks ago. Going rich on the current tune. Have not had enough time to get everything perfect with all the changes. After the headers had custom cams made and need bigger injectors to go back on full E85. Fought that for a while with the injectors I just put in and finally realized I could not get where I want. So running on a mix of E85 and pump gas for this pass. Will maybe get some 1000cc injectors or just run race gas for the track next year.

Why are you upgrading the diff? Has there been any sign of failure with the 210mm Quaife setup?
Dave,
No problems with the differential itself but the axles and the driveshaft both need upgraded. I think the differential could handle quite a bit more. The problem with the axles is that everything is to small so the shops that do this stuff will not work with those axles. The driveshaft and the flex joints are not up to the task. I just put new flex discs on and went to the track and was not even coming out super hard and they show signs of twisting. Anything below a 1.8' 60' and the reliability goes away and safety is a problem. I was cutting 1.90- 60' no problem with no timing in the motor and a 2200 rpm stall. Also with the 215mm differential there are gear choices from Richmond Gear and the sstub that goes in the differential are larger. And I plan on putting a stall converter in if my other plans do not work out and launching this thing really hard. And upping the power by a fair amount in the future. Just want to do the driveline once.
Believe me I thought about doing just the driveshaft and then the axle on the 210mm diff but I do not want to spend 2-3k on those parts to just have to upgrade the rear end and spend the money again. I bought the 215mm differential for 250.00. I got a different rear cover that will work and I am getting another complete v8 subframe to build off of.

Oh wow. I wonder if the 500E flex discs can handle the power in the sub-1.8-second 60' range. They are larger than the 6-cyl... I forgot you are using the M104 driveline not the M119 driveline. Hmmm. Well, if you ever want to sell your used QDF5V, drop me a line... I need to buy another one eventually!
hi everyone.for example i want to make upgrade for my m104 3.6amg engine.want to install kompressor. What I need?
kompressor(supercharger)+new intake filter+intake pipes.
what else?
maybe intercooler?what about Maf sensor?when thats seup will be installed what must i do next? Some piggyback for maf or what?and what about the oem ecu ?must I reprogram it?or it makes without any ecu reflashing?
Good evening everyone, I'm Brazilian, and I have a Mercedes E320 that at first I was going to make it a turbo, but now I got excited I had the idea of doing it with a Supercharger, and after seeing these posts I got even more excited, congratulations on the project below are the photos of mine of Drift that I'm riding.
