Thumbs up Check it out! 1991 300CE

Hello,

I am new to these forums, I just bought my first car, and it's a 300CE. I love it so far, check out the album!

My 1991 300CE (W124) - Link

Read the descriptions and let me know what you think, did I get a bargain?

The good:
  • (Almost) Everything works
  • Power everthing
  • No rust
  • Beautiful coat of paint
  • No stains/marks/spills/smoke in interior
  • Near-New condition
  • Got it for only $4000 and spent another $2000 on it
  • Same owner for 16 years, then 1-year owner, then I bought it
  • Just over 100,000 k on the odometer
  • Excellent heating and A/C
  • 21 MPG
The bad:
  • Windshield cleaner motor inoperable
  • Passenger-side seat belt feeder broken
  • Rear window seal broken, but no noise or temperature loss
The Ugly:
  • Slight sun-damage on rear seats (brittle plastic)
  • Small chips in paint near wheel wells
  • Small crack in dash trim
  • Key marks near driver's side keyhole
Couldn't get any better for less than ten grand.

95' AMG SeeThreeSix
Looks like a really nice car, minted out etc. You will love it for years to come, however, its not a car to invest in. It makes me shudder when I see how undervalued these cars are in the states. I wouldn't go as far as saying you couldn't get any better for $10K, that's a lot of money. I don't think any W124 unless genuine AMG or a 500E would fetch over $10k which is still very undervalued in my opinion. Enjoy your W124, they are in my opinion one of the most rewarding cars to cruise in.

The paint looks excellent. That's my favorite W124 color.

What a nice looking ce - love the caramel camel palamino interior.

Great first car - hopefully it will make you an even greater fan of the marque.

Question about R&R window sweeps 89 300CE

The felt has worn off of the window sweep that straddles the top of the front driver door and when window is raised it takes the trim and the rubber with it. This is the strip that is under the clipped on metal trim on the outside of the drivers and passenger door. I ordered new ones from MB, Monterey, there were only 15 left in inventory but my question is, does the rearview outside mirror have to be removed or can I just soap up the new strip and work it under the mirror once the metal is removed (it pops on and off easily). Been searching everywhere and cannot get a straight answer) Please advise, will be grateful. Thank you
