Lorenzo's back
My 500E is back from the shop.
At 53,000 miles or 85,000 km, the M119 V8 had a worn chain and guides. One guide fell apart when it was unfastened. The chain had either stretched one link, or it was the wrong one - possibly from an SL M119 type.
The chain was loose and may have caused excessive wear or damage.
Originally, it was thought that the guides had deteriorated and caused slack in the chain. Now, we are not sure. My indy says that it looks like the chain and guides may have been previously done.
Anyway, my car now runs dead quiet and is beautifully smooth.
I'm loving it!
