WTB Differential for my 1995 E320

I want to buy a LSD for my 1995 E320. I'm tired of the one wheel wonder. I have cash ready. Also if you have any info that would also be appreciated. I know that if I try to put a different differential in there it will mess up the speedo calibration and that's fine. I can get it re-calibrated. Anyways let me know, thanks in advance.

you could just weld up your diff, its much more fun... permanently locked rear.... cheaper than an LSD and better drifting.

someone said I can just buy a carrier straight from the dealership and put it in the rear end. So i'm just gonna do that, I thought of just welding it, but I don't think I want to go down that road

I have been looking into the Quaife unit. They made a unit for the old 450slc.
I got on the epc and found that that unit is the same as the late model large carrier in the w124. 400e 500e and the big diff on the e320. I got the diagram from quaife and did some measurements and it seems to be the same.
I was going to have a machine shop take some real measurements and then go further. It is priced a little higher than the lsd from mercedes but not a clutch unit. The unit for the 350 sd w140 chassis is the one that seems to be a correct fit.

I'm curious as to why you feel you need a limited slip differential

The stock setup handles a great deal of power and in my experience provides ample traction to both wheels under acceleration.

Your car looks like it is rather low...possibly your current suspension geometry is causing a lack of traction

I don't really lose any traction, it's more for doing doughnuts easier and having two wheels turn instead of one.

Seriously? Your 300e is twin turbo and you don't have an LSD and roast the crap out of your tires?????? haha dang well like you said, to each his own

I've been looking into this also, for the purpose of ending the one tire fire, and helping me get sideways

what does ASD stand for?

ASD you find on many Merc w124 and w201.

It stands for Automatic Slip Differential.

It's nearly the same as the original LSD to mercedes w201 2.3 16v, made years between 85 and 87 .

the differance is that ASD works with oil pressure, it uses the same oilpressure that is for rear self levelling suspension that you can find on 124 Estate.

but because the oilpressure has it's limit the ASD is allso weaker.

y don't get in near the same lockup like in an LSD.

The thing is to make the ASD mechanical like the LSD is.

I don't know how but i know a few people who have done this.

Actually with the stock differential and a suspension that allows weight transfer the car launches straight with both tires getting traction.
Lose traction and both will smoke, but never gets sideways...

I assume you mean never get sideways from standstill driving forward, no kick out here, but its easy to get my merc sideways, especially on roundabouts... In the wet most corners with a bit of a flick you can get some drifting done. The only downside is having an autobox.

Saying that, i did just snap my driveshaft 3 nights ago.... bah!
