Shell Premium was $2.25 last week when I filled up. Call me crazy but I stay away from Costco, Fred Meyers, and Arco for that matter. Prices are still too high if you ask me. Apparently all of the gasoline that is produced at the BP Cherry Point refinery is first shipped to the Seattle area, then redistributed to Whatcom County.

What's worse is that BP is about 3 miles from my house, and there is another refinery in Anacortes about 30 miles away!!! stupid... stupid... stupid...

what's this about my car being on blocks??? Your lucky that thing is sporting a 5.0L or I'd show you how it's done! don't worry I'll be there

i specifically seek out costco because thier pumps pump faster.

usually signals a clean filter. which means less contamination in the fuel.
when i gas up somewhere where it takes forever, i NEVER go back, no matter how cheap or convenient.

at the moment it has gone down to £0.89 per litre which converts to about $7.50-$8.00 per gallon, during the summer it was £1.19 which works out about $10 ish per gallon.

Not really...across the border into Lewiston, ID, you can get premium at a Safeway Gas station with your grocery Safeway card @$1.79! Here in eastern WA, premium runs around $1.98. If I go to the other border and into OR, I can beat that as well, but not like in ID.

Actually I believe Costco gas is a BP product and is the same quality as shell or chevron just without "techron" or "v-power" which are just additives they add. It’s not in the same as Arco or Fred Meyer or 76, which I believe, are products of Texaco and the QC there isn't as good. I did a high school project on gas. The additives are good for your car but not having them isn't bad. Just as long as the octane is high and there aren't contaminates.

In Canada:

87 for Regular
94 for Premium

In the USA:

91 is the highest, I believe.

These are unleaded.

When I had my farm in MO, I had a above ground gas & diesel tank. The coop went straight to the pipeline bulk plant for my gas. He told me that all station gas originated there (at those bulk plants) and that each station/company has their own additive formula, which is in turn, punched into the computer before the tankers are filled. So my gas was free of additives and I could add whatever I wanted. I was still running some high performance gas motors back then and I added my own tetraethyl lead to make 110 octane.....sometimes 'slumming' with 105 octane.

If you did a full research project, then you should have discovered that the EPA tested over a hundred additives and found nothing that lubricated upper head trains like tetraethyl lead. It was a sad day when us motor heads saw lead disappear in commercial gas. You're correct in that you don't need additives necessarily in modern motors, just good quality gas with low moisture content. Modern gas is a cheapened mixture of chemicals that are stable (exposed to air) for about a month and a half at best. Techron is a very good injector cleaner if you buy the concentrate. However, I doubt if there is enough of the product in anything, but perhaps premium that will do the average driver any good.

Wow, those are low... I had an old Ford previously and the heads were still not converted to unleaded so I had to use super and sometimes add additives, or retard the timing. Or just go to an airport and get some plane fuel.... you really needed the car set up properly though... or you were melting your engine.

Yeah, doubtful in the actual gas there's enough to clear out badly clogged injectors...but using the concentrate will usually work. Case in point....I have a V-10 work truck (high miles) that has had a lot of lousy gas put through it. I can tell by my mileage when the injectors are not at peak. So once a month I put in Techron injector cleaner and in that very tank my mileage increases. Mopar actually makes a stronger formulation, but it's whoring expensive at the dealer and I can usually find Techron additive discounted.

I use it occasionally in the MB.....it does generate some heat as it works and so they recommend NOT to put in air cooled engines like MC's. There has been some serious testing on Techron versus other injector cleaners and it usually comes out on top.

What about Seafoam? I used this once or twice in my car but didn't notice a difference... It says on the can that you can carefully/slowly pour directly into the intake manifold. When i did this I got some cool smoke effects which I assume was engine junk being cleaned out...

off topic apologies...

Careful with that stuff, Wolfie.

Some of the Bimmer 3 series boys here, on a tuner site, used it.
They posted lots of shots of spectacular smoke clouds in their driveway.

I think you should stay away from that product.
It doesn't seem to help, it's probably bad for the environment, and it may be dangerous.
I don't know if there's any connection, but the BMW guys on that site may have inhaled some that made them drive funny - they were also posting about traffic violations and not a few crashes and wrecks.
