Question NEW GUY BUT COME TAKE A LOOK...

LONG STORY BUT MUST READ...
[QUOTE]Just for starters my name is calou even better calouE320 and no not the cartoon lol. Alright I joined this forum a while back but after seeing all the amazing work that you guys have done I felt like I couldn't hang. Luckily my mom had a 1995 E320 just sitting in the garage. She purchased this 8 years ago at 49k miles with a reconstructed title she drove it up until 2004 because the snow was bad and the car wasn't tough enough. She ended up geting an X5. Anyways. So now the car has 75k miles on it and I decided to take it out the garage and bring it back to life. So here is some of the thing my mechanic and i did.
1) The car didn't want to start so I came to the conclusion that it needed a new battery, yes I made sure I got the right size.
2) Windows didnt go down, lights weren't working, neither did the sunroof go back so had to change mostly all the fuzes .
3) Last time car was serviced some one put power steering fluid were the transmission fluids goes which caused the car to leak. So we had to drain the power steering fluid and I went to Benz and bought like 2 quarts of transmission fluid which they only sold there and no were else.
4) Changed all the brake pads on the car which was difficult in the case that the caliper was a lil rusty and was hard taking the pin out. Good thing that the rotor wasn't worn to the point were we had to replace them. Well eventually they'll need replacing, but not now.
5) The driver side back door window didn't want to go down because the motor was jammed. So we took the door out which was a hassle then come to find out the motor was basically finished, done, need new door. So had to buy used door. I think this was the most difficult in the car. Trying to align the door and making sure all the connection were perfect. We worked during hot and blazing weather to bad rain which made me sick.
6) O yea can't forget about the bosche spark plugs and new air filter.

So now the car runs good none of the lights appear everything working got the code for the radio the sound is great. and luckily the motor is on point. have pics of before and after. Didn't get a chance to take pics of under the hood after because it was so cold out here. 3 beginning pics 3 new pics And I cleaned the car to perfection.

MY QUESTION TO YOU GUYS IS SHOULD I KEEP THE CAR OR SELL IT. AFTER SEEING SOME OF THE WORK YOU GUYS DID IT MAKES ME WANT TO KEEP IT MORE AND MORE. Let me know what you think

Whoops, wrong thread.

Low miles = good
bum title = low value

so if the car is as it seems, and you are handy like you sound, it's a keeper.

This group is tolerant of newbies (search the forum before asking common questions) and light modding is common.

And the extreme modded cars (done tastefully) somehow make me like my own mildly modded car even more.

Keep it. You would only get 2500 - 3000 for it because of the title. Do you know why it had a salvage title?

i think i speak for most people on this board by
a) welcoming you
b) stating definitively that i would never buy a car with a salvage title unless i knew/ had witnessed the damage that caused the change in title

Thanks guys. But when she purchased the car she didn't know that it was salvage. She bought it 8 years ago when you couldn't really find out that information, well she couldn't. When she found out the car was reconstructed the guy was long gone so she dealt with it. But for me to keep the car i would need to do some mods just to bring it up to date.

keep it

my e320 i bought was a salvaged title at 120k (paid 2000)

the e320 after the extra 87k i put on it is still running strong

no point to resell since the value is pretty low anyway

that engine is amazing..just keep it up to date.

why didn't you replace just the motor instead of the whole door?

the first option was to replace the door. Then the second option was to replace the motor. So I went to the junk yard found a 1995 E320 wagon took the door apart then tried to match everything I just remember that it was a hassle . So decided just to replace the door even that was hard.

The reason I ask about the reason for salvage is to find out where it was hit or if it was a flood car etc. It is good to know so you can make sure the car is balanced well and put back together the way it should be. You usually can tell by doing some looking around on the car. Look for parts with yellow wax pen or paint pen writing on it. that type of thing will give you a good indication of what happened.

lots of cars
I have a salvaged titled car because someone hit my front corner. The insurance paid for the car but i just spent about $200 for a new hood and fender. Make sure you check all the pillars for any damage or repairs. I would keep that car any day! It's a DIY job so if you are not into fixing cars like that sell it.
