Fuel Pump question
Hi,
Anyone ever replace a fuel pump on an 87 300E? If so, how much did it cost? If you did it yourself, was it labour-intensive?
Thanks!

they go from anywhere between $150 and $300 new, from when I last looked. what issues are you having? replacing my fuel pump relay and OVP saved me from doing the fuel pump, which was my next option to solve my starting problems...

None (yet). I am looking at a car that is being sold because 1. the gentleman is having economic problems and 2. the car has a fuel pump problem. Apparently his car (a 1987 300E with 186K miles) has stopped running due to the fuel pump.
But I remember the OVP relay when I had a 260E...I went from mechanic to mechanic who literally gouged me without fixing anything, until someone here suggested the OVP relay. That, and a very reputable mechanic here in San Diego solved the problem.

When replacing the fuel pump, has anyone had any issues with leaking from the fuel pumps and the lines leading from the pumps. I have replaced lines due to leaking and it appears to come back over time. I suspect the top fittings may be loosing tension. Just looking for feedback from the forum!!!
