What do you think of these Japanese kits..
300CE widebody conversion and standard body to 500E conversion ?

Expensive...I'm getting my associate in Japan to find out more about fit and quality. Still cheaper then having a shop fab a widebody..

Click on "aero parts' then go to E/TE-Class and CE-Class

It does look kinda cool. I'm not sure about the bodywork leading up to the rear flares, very sharp lines, even for a w124.

For that sort of price I would instead talk to one of the guys on this forum who have made widebody carbon fibre panels for their own W124s. Ask them for a quote to make you up some panels with a weight saving benefit as well!

The front looks great, but the rear flares look kind of weird IMO. It bulges out kind of funny... It makes the *** of the coupe look fat rather than muscular, if that makes sense.

The wagon looks hot. And as for the sedan, zorro's right. It makes more sense to just buy a e500e.

you may have your associate contact these guys too: http://www.mudah.my/vi/1396524.htm?ca=11_s

Metal is more durable. Instead of starting from scratch, you might try cutting some nicely shaped flares off another car's replacement fender. You don't need much to add to the original flare. Flare the edge to match and find a good welder. Here's an example of a new Audi fender for $140 shipped.

Interesting..I've sent them an email.

I agree on the widebody that the rear treatment looks a bit too flared.

I'm looking for something that will give me a bit more on the rear, to run wider rubber.
The 500E looks great and I also have been considering what you suggested about finding a flare in metal from another car.

Metal is best...

Yep: http://www.socalcarbon.com/SoCalCarbon/

There's also S500R, who has offered to make panels for others:
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ertouring.html

This was going to be the next phase of my project until I moved to Canada.

You know better then most why I'm looking at the ability to install a bit wider rubber in the rear !
Especially with the last tweak that got me 300lbft at the rear wheels

Did you ever move to Canada ?

I was quite happy with the 225 front, 255 rear setup on mine. Then again, without the air restriction to 5000rpm wheelspin may have been a bigger problem. As I'm sure you know, the type of tyre also makes a huge difference. During early testing the car wore barely used 255 Kumho tyres from a Skyline GTR on the rear and my mechanic said it was too much of a handful to drive. We swapped those for new 255 Sumitomo tyres and the car has behaved since then.
Another mod I was looking into was an LSD and more modern transmission.

I did move to Canada, been in Toronto since April 2008. I wouldn't be able to drive my car during winter here if I brought it over, too much ice on the roads. It's a shame since the turbos would probably love the freezing cold air.

those jap ones all just look a little 'odd' and 'fillery' if there is such a word,
i'd go with a custom widebody similar to bluecoupes car simply stunning
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...-finished.html

or you could roll the arches and and use a higher offset wheel thats abit wider to get a bit of extra rubber under the arches without going having to shell out $$$$ on custom fab work.

Here is the problem with body kits, have you ever seen a car driving around with a body kit that looks good? They never seem to fit right, the panels are always wavy and the seems are never aligned correctly. After you purchase the kit and it arrives at your door step it needs to be installed. I grew up in a body shop since my uncle owns one and I have seen it all, It will take at least a 100 hours of bodywork before you can shoot some paint over it not to mention finding a body shop that is willing to do the work, the best body shops don't even waist their time and the ones who are willing to do it for you, do ****ty work. Don't even waist your time or money.

Yeah, maybe working those ricer-kits on civics with F1 spoilers tend to brainwash you to the point of believing that no quality aftermarket kits exist. As with every above post, I cannot agree more! Genuine Brabus, Lorinser, and ultimatley AMG kits literally cost MORE than a riced out civic (whole car ) themselves, but the quality and fit is derived from enthusiasts, not the "ricer aftermarket" get rich quick aftermarket scene.

Yeah, that's why my GenII kit just needed paint and it was a direct bolt on with no modding needed.
