Hid's in 500E? or other 124's
Anyone installed them yet? What types of issues did you have? Can the headlight focus the amount of light hid's put out?
TIA

a TVR Cerbera Speed Twelve
fwiw: benzworld.org w124 forum section has like two or three full-length threads dedicated to the purchase and installation of HIDs in w124s - not to mention Zorro here as well.

Having done a full projector retrofit myself (for my 400e), I wouldn't recommend it, nor would I do it again if I hadn't already spent the money to do it. HID's in the factory reflectors are almost never a good idea, and you would lose your brights.

yes, even tearing apart the factory lights to put in projectors won't work because of the fluting on the lens, you would have to use some aftermarket lights like some of us have done successfully, that have a clear lens.
using HID without projectors at all is just silly, if you want to keep the factory headlights, then like ATL said, the M-Tec's seem to be the best bet

The projectors in the ones you and I have from ebay are horrid, berti. I swapped mine out for TSX ones that are rated as some of the best on the market....still working out the kinks but WHAT a difference...

yes, i used TSX ones too... but i didn't need to!
I did the 'washer mod' thing that adds the band of color to the cutoff line, but it also completely removes the super sharp cut-off line of the tsx projectors. i should have saved my money and used bmw projectors or something.
i should take pics some time and show you what i mean...

i have it also installed. I used the bi xenon lens system of the w215 cl. in adition i also fitted the automatic range adjustment motors, wiring, sensors and control unit of an early w210 xenon system

of course, the installation wasn't that easy, but it works like a stock system.

Rouven, please post pics of the light output at night, particularly on a white wall or garage door. I'd like to see how much diffraction the fluted lenses cause.
That setup looks GREAT....
