Makes me miss my C280 ......but it did save my life
Suprisingly my 99' C280 had similar "get-up-and-go" to my 300E 86'. If I remember correctly, 0-60 times were actually faster for my 300E . Nice looking ride though man, it really.....REALLY makes me miss my W202...and that super cool keyfob....damn it was bada$$.

Best bet for removing emblems is to use some floss to get the actual emblem off, then use a polishing compound to get the adheasive off, it takes longer, but your risk of damaging the paint is geatly minimized.

Do NOT use Goof Off, I use this stuff all the time, its great, but it will not only take the adheasive off, but also the clear coat and paint.

lots of cars
Well, yeah goo off is a little strong but a little on a damp cloth works for me. You can also use denatured alcohol to remove the adhesive. If you don't want to risk it you can also use Goo Gone which is citrus base but it takes longer. I would buff the car anyways after that.

I've also heard that the easiest way to remove the badges without scratching the paint is to use dental floss. A credit card sounds like it might scratch your paint to me.
Albert, search the net for "debadging" and you'll find plenty of info.

I use Goof Off for removing paint/overspray mainly.
