92 300E 4matic ECU upgrade?
Hi all,
I'm new to the MBWORLD forum and to Mercedes. I just bought a 1992 300E 4matic and it drives great, but it feels so under powered! I like to make some upgrades without have to open the motor or adding turbos or superchargers.
Do they make a computer upgrade for this model?
Do exhausts help?
K&N filter? Cone available? or OEM replacement?
I'd also would like to make the car handle better. Since the car sits an inch higher than the regular E I'd like to lower it, but the 4matic has those whacky looking springs in the front to clear the drive shafts. Any lowering springs available?
Thanks
Alan

I don,t know about the suspension, but as far as the engine is concerned, there,s not much you can do
Forget about filter, exhaust and those other gadgets.
it won,t give you anymewasurable benefits.

Exchange the exhaust with a 2.5 inch and put on a bigger high flow cat (low restriction model). Then have the car dyned with a piggyback computer like the 'Unichip' see http://www.dastek.co.za/ or http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/unichip/unichip.htm . I guess this would give you 20-30hp extra.
On a MB SL 320 you can get 231HP --> 252hp with this chip but I would do the above instead:
http://www.hs-elektronik.com/datenbl...des-sl320.html
The only way to get some real power is to install a turbo or kompressor, I'm afraid. Many people have installed both single and bi-turbo on the M103 and M104 engine with good result.
