Cab w aero I's
Just found, bought and refinished a set of Aero I's from ebay:
17x8 w added 225/45 Michelin Pilots
Lowered with Eibach Pro springs and Bilstein Sports...

The single image noted on ebay by seller (I tossed the tires):

Matt @ USA Wheels in Fairfield NJ refinished them quick and I had no complaints, cost $600 to refinish, wheels were $325 on ebay.
Had to work to get the wheels to fit, still a touch more to do, but have not added spacers yet. Riding out fine.

lots of cars
Very nice wheels!
:
I used to have two sets of those, one in silver and one in chrome, but the newer ones with the ///AMG logo. I got the chrome ones on ebay for 400...
What i did to mine was to shave 3mm of the pad and used a 225/45/17 tire.

Better Pics added above.
My one big worry is no spare, so no room for error or I lose the set. If anyone ever notes a spare or 2 of these, I'd be much appreciative.
Mark's ever echoing comment has me seriously considering painting this one's lowers.

Rich,
Looking good man, old school wheels on the updated car. I like it. You should check those wheels rolling, they look magnificent. Have a friend drive the car and you look or drive by a glass building and have a look.
Did you shave your lug bolts? Also, you have to be careful, some of those amg wheels dont have the thickest area that the bolts go through. You need enough meat holding the wheel to the hub. Also, you must have had a really good shop do the flycutting because a slight off plane cut would really cause a horrible vibration in the car.

YNVDIZw124 " I think Chris had two....?? "
where's the batsignal, errr, "calling chrisdpham thread?"
when you need it. (Thanks, I will drop him a note)
Appatula, Just out yesterday for first ride and am thrilled. A 1% rubbing issue under big bounce, but I am going w fender spacers soon.
Omega, along with DaveAMG, I cannot thank you enough for your help. & Rolling pictures or video coming up soon.
BrabusBenz300E: TY (A NJ seller unwilling to ship, that was fate!)
Old school wheels fit the chassis look, if not the facelift. I am interested if anyone thinks the match is wrong or could be improved on somehow?
DOES ANYONE THINK PAINTING THE LOWERS WOULD NOT BE AN IMPROVEMENT HERE?
thanks for the patience for this eternal newbie.

Fender spacers won't help with the rubbing on bounces, just with turning radius...
me! painting the lower cladding will make the car look more 'modern', so combine that with the facelift and i think it will make the wheels look too old-school for it...

Hmm, good points about riding the new school and old school fence. (Good observation, old school wheels maybe better w 2 tone) I'm rethinking that jehnerts could be the next upgrade. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Zed, thanks for mentioning the spacers won't help (are you sure the top of fender wouldn't be out 1mm more?) 1mm-2mm would likely do it, and the only rubbing is on the top outside edge, not inside at all.
Time to enjoy her, in her 2009 version!

I'm a huge fan of the Aero 1's but think the 2's work better with the face lifted models mainly because of the softer lines. I also love the painted wheels vs. chrome. Very nice!

i suppose it might move the top part of the fender out slightly, but i really don't think it will... rolling your fenders would definitely help with it though...
car looks really good man! i found a black cabrio here with under 100k miles for ~$7k, yours makes me seriously consider getting it!

Rich...Good buy on those and very nice look on your cab ![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
Leave the lower cladding as it is...good contrast..
I wouldn't change the contrast cladding on my white cab...but will change on my coupe only if the widebody is a success...
East Coast meet sounds tempting...
Recently passed on a set of two piece Aero I 17 x 8 front, 17 x 10 rear with new Falken FK-452 tires for asking price of $2500.
Problem was they were owned by a young guy who got them off of another young guy who drilled them to 14MM x 1.5 from 12MM x 1.5 to fit a VW !!!!
Great offsets, would have been perfect as they were from a AMG 126 car.
Other thing was the extreme stretch on the rear tires which looked...how you say Brett..."like ***"
Amazing how many great old Merc wheels have been *******ized for VW's

Pifcat2 "the 2's work better with the face lifted models mainly because of the softer lines"
I planned on running 17x7.5 Aero II's this season. They were on the car when I ran across the Aero I's (was able to use the same tires!). With no hesitation, IMO, it is not even close. I do not understand why Aero I replicas are not all over the place, if not currently made, why not back then?
Zed: Yea they are close enough that a little more tinkering, and I am done. That will leave a little paint junk on 2 fenders, so I thought about the lower cladding. Nix, good feedback above.
RE the black Cab, check regular stuff but the top extra closely, $6K of hydraulics in there (far less with help from these boards, I have been fortunate in terms of tops condition)
BUT...as much as you love your car. Imagine the 30 second Transformer moment, then you are open aired. With all the locals here know about keeping a 124 on the road, that knowledge applied to a convertible yields more car for less $. And BLACK?? Worth taking out a loan if in reasonable shape.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
RBYCC: Thank you! You may have noted the grill which was inspired by your pics. And I am pretty shifted off of matching, it is more likely on my white Cab in a few years than this silver one w these wheels. Facelift, Aero II's and painted lowers, maybe. Aero I's no.
EAST COAST MEET?
Atlantic City?
At times, I look in one of the driveways to see 6-7 124s, and feel like I am already having a mini meet.
YNVDIZw124: CHROME = NO PROBLEM! If it matches, I'll refinish as needed to get a spare on the shelf!
