just wondering what years the amg hammers were built and how much they cost when new? have this $500,000 figure stuck in my head for some reason.

Aerodynamics
I just read they cost about 160k. Or you could send a 300E to AMG and have them modify it for you for "only" 120k.
BTW, do they make those Hammer body kits for 300Es? Are they still available, because although they are a bit on the rediculous side, I read that the aero kit lowers the coefficient of drag to .25 which is very slick. That is not only speed and stability; that's gas! I saw some w124 kits online, but I don't know if they are the same.
I could also use some tips on where to find flared fenders for 300Es
TIA

$160,000 sounds about right. The aerodynamics were on the wild side, but they reflected the nature of the car. The Hammer was an absolute monster. Hammer aerodynamics on an otherwise unmodified 300E could be construed as overkill.
