looking for specific pictures
anyone have any pictures of w124s with busted mufflers? where the bends are and the rusting occurs and ultimately will fall off?

Actually....
The second picture shows where the pipe actually bent in my case. The exhaust was dragging on the ground and apparently throwing up sparks.

This is on a 300TE 4matic, so I'm not quite sure it this is what you want.
I got some donor connector pieces off a W201 muffle and welded them in.
This is the rear muffler (TE) and the weld repair.
