1995 E320 Wagon
Vibration related to transmission

Hi MB friends: I have a 1995 E320 wagon (184,xxx miles). I noticed a vibration problem recently in the following scenario:
After a pretty good drive which makes car fully warmed up; I stop the car in front of red traffic light; now the brake paddle is pressed down and transmission is on Drive shift; then there will be annoying vibrations which seem to come from the transmission. If I shift the transmission to Neutral or Park, the vibrations will disappear right away. Then vibrations will come back if I put transmission on Drive again.
When car is running there is no vibration.
Has anyone experience similar things? Thank you in advance.

This has happened to me before in the exact same manner

Check if you have enough transmission fluid, if not add and see if you have a leak, fix it early to avoid destroying your transmission

the dip stick for the transmission is towards the back to the left of the engine near the top if you are facing it from the front, it may have transmission fluid still on it even if there is a leak

Thank you so much for this important comment!! I checked the fluid level, and yes, the level is lower than the min point. I topped the fluid, and now the vibration issue is almost gone!! You words save me $$$ on buying the engine/transmission mounts, which were suggested by some mechanic. Thank you again!

Glad I could help

But now you must figure out where the leak is, as this could also be a very expensive repair

(I think the transmission can only hold around 6-7 quarts to transmission oil, be sure not to add too much when topping off as this might lead to blowing gaskets and what not)

Good luck!

Engine mounts will completely fix the problem. $65 for a set and its a DIY swap.
