Replacing brake pads and rotors, good brands? ASR?
I'm attempting to replace my front and rear brake pads and front and rear rotors on my 1993 300E 2.8. When looking online for parts, I notice that some of the pads say "Two Retaining Pins. Not for vehicles with ASR systems." Don't all 1993 300E's have ASR? I'm looking at PBR brand or Pagid for the pads and Brembo brand rotors. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

No, not all w124 has ASR, this was a very expensive option only available for some 6 cylinder and v8 gasoline versions, for example the 300 E-24, E 280, E 320 or E 420. However ABS was standard equipment for all versions.
As refer to brakes both version; with or without ASR; hae the same brake callipers and brake discks. The only differnce is in rear pads. Versions with ASR have wear indicators in both pads of each rear calliper whereas versions without ASR haven't got any (only in front brake pads).
So rear pads for ASR system have a hole to set wear indicator. If you buy pads without this hole and if your car has ASR you can't install wear indicators!
