300CE Coupe front pass. seat stuck - can't fold it forward

Strange thing...

The front seat will fold down ok when the car is not running. But once the car is running, the front seat will lock in the upright position (power functions work).

Looks like the safety mechanism that triggers it to lock is stuck? Anyone know how to get access to this and where I find it? Is the control indeed stuck? I remember that the locking mechanism was controlled via an air-supply..

THx!

Yeah, its supposed to lock when the door is closed. You wouldn't want you passenger to go flying into the dash, would you? Open the door and the vacuum lock is off.

Correct, but I thought that the car should be in gear to lock the seat? I thought I remember that having the engine running but car in P that the seat was unlocked?

I should just check the driver's side, but I thought that was the case...

AFAIK, engine on = locked seats.

In addition, there's a button by the shoulder that allows you to unlock the seat.

exactly... if you want to flop it forward while it's locked, just push the button on the side of the seat...

my seat backrest stuck and can't move forward, the rest of the function all works well. Have tried using my friend's working switch but turn out the same. hence likely is the motor. i wonder anyway to test out really is the motor faulty? and how can i manually adjust the backrest to normal position? at least for me to drive while figure the motor or real problem.

how to take out the motor? or use the test pen to try out whether the wire has power in?

is this the place to manually adjust the seat position?
