300ce blown motor

I have a 1990 300ce with a blown motor. I am having trouble finding a good 104 motor. Can I put in a single cam or do I have to keep looking for a twin cam?

I've got the same car as you. My engine has about 110k on the clock, runs like a champ. The only thing it needs is valve guide seals redone. It can eat oil if you romp on the throttle too much.

If you can find me a good m104 C36 engine, I'd love to trade.

You may not realized the '90 has a unique M104 head which may explain your difficulty. Retrofitting a M103 will be difficult with different wiring, sensors, and Ignition Control Module. Where are you located?

It the bottom end gone too? If not then it could be cheaper to rebuild the head rather than replace the whole motor.
