passenger seat problem
Okay, my kids are pigs (4 and 7). I'll admit it. They are always dropping things in the car and not picking them up, etc.
Recently, the passenger seat started catching when it was moved forward and backwards. Now, it won't move at all. Obviously, there's a marble (or something similar) caught in the track somewhere.
It has been my experience with this car, and one of the things I love about it, that once I've taken something apart, I'll uncover a clever way the factory devised to get to something quickly. Of course, this is after I've already spent hours removing everything remotely close to the object.
I've looked around at how to remove the seat and don't see an easy way. Does anyone know a shortcut?

richp,
I've removed the front passenger seat on my 300E before to fix a spring and it's only held with four metric bolts. The trick is removing the three power plugs without damaging the plastic connector covering. There's a spring loaded cover you have to remove first. Also the seat belt on the tunnel needs to be unbolted. The seat is heavy so you'll need to turn it on it's side and lift it out the door.
If all you're doing is looking for a jammed piece in the track then you shouldn't have to remove the seat. Just electrically elevate it to max height and peek in. I once found the seat belt (non-moving part) jammed on the sliding bracket which prevented the seat from moving backwards.
Good luck,
Felix
