Buying 1995 E420 70k miles...recommendations?
Hoping to close on the deal for a beautiful sapphire black metallic E420 this weekend. It belongs to an older couple that has numerous vehicles and have hardly driven it at all in 14 years but kept it maintained by a local indie.
All it needs to my eye is a good detail job and with such low mileage, the car has not been driven or opened up much, so it seems to have the characteristic "mildew" smell inside. Could it be the evaporator/drainage tube? Does the car have a cabin filter like our ML?
Any recommendations as how to handle to smell and other things to look out for would be greatly appreciated! Such a nice car...
Thanks in advance,
dave

I think the 94/95 do have a filter right at the fresh air intake under the wiper assembly. Biggest thing on MB's is service records, make sure the car has had regular maintenance, filters, flushes, etc and of course the wire harness. Make sure the engine wire harness is in good shape, insulation not cracking or green oxidized wires.
