adjusting tension on belt

how do i adjust the belt tension on my 1988 300e? thanks.

1994 E420
towards the front of your motor to the right you will see a small cylinder looking thing with a 13 mm top to it (its a hollow cylinder). That is your where you make your adjustments. But before you start cranking on that you have to loosen a 19mm bolt that you can hardly see. Follow that cylinder looking thing down to the belt tensioner and like right below the pulley you will feel the 19mm bolt. Sorry its kind of hard to explain without have the car in front of you. But basically just loosen that 19mm, you dont have to take it all the way out, just get a few good turns. Then you can tighten up that 13mm. When your all done just tighten that 19mm back up and your good to go.

Be really careful with the 13 mm tensioner bolt as it is a fine thread bolt that gets stripped very easily.
