very wierd problem
OK, ill make it short and simple as possible
1988, 300E with 520 000KM's
I installed an audio deck yesterday and now my center console lights dont work, my RPM needle literally dances to the music like an equalizer..wierd. And the lights inside my car slightly flicker. However the flickering of the lights doesnt start until my engine is turned on. What could I have done to cause all this while installing my stereo?

#1 check center console bulb #2 check for vacuum leak in engine #3 check all the fuses inside the engine bay. #4 have a professional look at your decks electrical connections. #5 install a small disco ball inside your car. lol.

Its sounds like you have a ground issue. Check the power to the radio and ground to be sure they are not corroded and have good connections. Then check to be sure the ground for the radio is a large enough gage wire and well grounded to the chassic somewhere without paint and not just through a screw.

oh jeez, thanks for tyhe reply guys. How do I check my center console bulb?? My heater switched and all that doesnt glow anymore so it could be the bulb. I checked the ground it is good, even with the radio playing while the car is switched to acc. the lights dont flicker but as soon as i start the engine it'll start flickering and my rpm needle goes to the music.
