Fuse Help! Fuse #1 keeps blowing.

Hi, I have a 1992 300E and I have 2 fuses that keep blowing as soon as they get voltage. The first fuse is fuse #1. this fuse is for: cigar lighter, folding head restraints, glove compartment light, radio, rear window defroster switch, but somehow my sunroof doesn't work and my auto down switch for the windows isn't working either, so I have to hold the switch to pull the window down. Fuse #1 used to last 3-4 days before blowing but recently it blows as soon as I turn the key to the on position. The last time it blew I was at an intersection and all of a sudden my radio went off and before that it worked fine for a week. The second fuse that is blown was under a plastic cap outside the fuse box. I recently found out that it was blown. It is a white (8A) fuse next to a blue(25A) fuse. I really don't know what it is for but it blows as soon as I hook the battery back up, so I think it has a short somewhere but I don't know what the fuse does. So right now I have no radio, cigar lighter aka police detector power supply, and sunroof doesn't work. Could someone please help me with this problem.

Thanks.

Here are some pictures of the fuse box and the other fuse. I just replaced all old fuses with copper fuses.

You have a short somewhere......good luck. Cost me $170 to find the short i just had...it was in my dome light switch. $5 part at a local pick-a-part.

Thanks for the reply. I opened the under dash on drivers side to see if I could find something there, but when I saw all the wires coming from the firewall I said forget it. Too much of a headache to DIY so I'll probably take to an auto electrician or the dealer.

I agree about it being too much of a headache. I wouldn't take it to the stealership though. Find a good and fairly priced Mercedes mechanic. The only benefit to taking it to the Benz dealer is that you would get a loaner car.

BTW, I think your "mystery fuse" is the heated seat power. I saw something yesterday that said it was the factory location.
