Newbie question redux (mirror adjuster)
So, here's the question: How hard is this to replace? Does it pop out, or does one have to access the center console?
Many thanks,
Caleb
The wood is held down by one screw at the bottom and by two hooks at the top. The screw is under the center junk catcher carpet (under armrest) lift the carpet and there will be the screw. Remove the screw and tilt the wood console forward and up so you can get to the bottom of the switches.
Got the part. Installed it tonight. All is well.
For others new at this operation:
My 300D has the "roll top" junk catcher. There are two screws at the front of the inside of the junk catcher and two hooks at the back. After removing the screws and puling the junk catcher out, there is one screw at the back of the wood piece under where the junk catcher sits. This IS the only fastener that needs to be removed. The plastic surround for the shift lever pries up easily and should also be gently removed.
I learned that the radio balance switch and the mirror switch plug down into their mates, so you have to tug at the wood (which has hooks at the front near the ash tray) to get it to separate. pulling the vinyl "sides" apart around the wood piece seemed to help. Reinstallation is in the reverse order.
