I would say a lot depends on prior maintenance. I bought my '91 300CE with 115,000 miles 4 1/2 years ago, and it had NO service records. It needed some TLC but ran great, and my mechanic told me the motor and trans were bullet proof, and good for 200,000. SO...I put a transmission in at 140,000 (reverse went out) and a rebuilt cylinder head at 162,000, which I am chalking it up to poor maintenance in its first 100,000. That being said, the transmission was $2,300, and the head was $1,900, so the cars are not prohibitively expensive to work on. The car now runs and drives like new, and I'm going for 200,000. If you got into it halfway cheap, maintaining it and fixing it will keep it going as a really classy, stylish, and comfortable ride. Rob Harper
