I would appreciate any help.

Weren't they for the Swiss market? I'd take a short trip over there if I were you and have a dealer find one for you. Good luck in the search...wish I could of gotten a limited edition one...not that mine is all that bad...

Jim, I don't think any of us 500E/E500 owners can complain.

E500 LIMITED

Absolutely..unfortunately I wrote off my much loved 93 E500 over christmas. I had planned to keep it forever. Hence the search for a replacement!

With maybe the exception of a 911 there is no other car!

MkB - What sort of mods, if any, did you have on your '93? I recently acquired mine (to replace the CLK) and fell in love instantly. So far, I'd like some 18" wheels with 245 and 275 rubber front and rear, a PAD chip, and K&N filters. Any other recommendations?

Mods!

Yes! I have a 1995 E320 and would appreciate knowing what kind of mods you guys are doing to these 93-95 W124s. I am having trouble finding anything.

So far I am planning on putting on 17' AMG Monoblocks.

I am also debating how to tint the windows, there is a company in Denver that will tint windows Silver, but I'm not sure if that will ruin the car or not.

Comments on your mods (wheels/tires/performance/tints) are appreciated.

Post mods......

Do tell on why you had to get rid of your 93'500E...my condolences. There's a couple nice ones for sale here in CT...

Mods...on a E320 (old body style?) definitely plus one or two it with wider and larger rims and like an Eibach spring with new stock bilsteins...it'll be nice, trust me... K&N air filter...1st gear start...exhaust from cat back...then, maybe, a chip...if you want more fast und speedy then buy a faster car, ie C36/43, 500E/E500, E55,E60, S55, or even a E420/400E, etc...the sixes are just sweet motors as is and you'd have to bugger it up alot to get noticeable gains as compared to the way a V-8 feels and peforms. But others will tell you different so think about all of our opinions and weigh them in as to which mods would be best for you...hey, if you got the money...have RENNTech build you a 'stealth bomber'.

E500 LIMITED

DN,P &Jim:I lost it on ice in Ireland over christmas and ended up going backwards through a stone wall..thank god for comprehensive insurance..!

i am not really into modifications and the LIMITED looks leery enough with the 17' Evo alloys. The problem with living in central London is that anything that looks flash gets keyed or worse. In fact this is what I liked about the E500..most people dont even notice it!

How much do 500E/E500s go for in CT?

The only modification I did was to remove the speed limiter........175mph on an empty runway!

I will keep on looking!

MkB - Empty runway? You lucky dog. What I wouldn't give for unlimited access to an abandoned stretch of road long enough to reach 175 mph. Although it probably didn't need to be THAT long.

DN; you are right. about a half mile from a 1st gear start, and 25ish seconds!

Wow. I wish I had an opportunity to confirm that distance/time. How does that sort of acceleration from standstill to top speed compare to worthy adversaries? 0-175 mph isn't exactly a widely published statistic.

the manufacturers time was 5.9 seconds to 100kph ie 62.5 mph. However if you cheat a bit it will drop to close to 5 seconds ie put gear shift into 1st and then back to Drive. the car will start off in 1st and not 2nd as normal and on dry tarmac with good tyres will not suffer too much from ASR interference. 0 to 100mph in about 13 seconds aand this is when the E500 really begins to pick up its skirt.

I have found the Swiss E500 Limited and am awaiting a MB report on it before doing a deal. However I am not sure if I should get another one straightaway.

I have always wanted a Porsche 911(993). I am 33, married with no kids yet and feel this could be the only opportunity to do it for the next ten years...decisions...where is that coin!

Indeed, my 500E did a 5.3 0-60 and 14.1 1/4 mile at 101 mph...with a bit more practice at launching I'm sure it'll get into the high 13's...as MkB stated...it really gets up and goes after 120 mph...quite crazy how fast they go. The E55s are even faster to 60 mph, from what I've heard.

Go for that Limited Mkb...I'm in the same boat as you; 35, soon-to-be wedded and no kids yet...do it before we're all done with toys for ourselves.Post some pics when you get it.

Gee, E500 LTD vs. 993 Porsche. Sort of a win-win situation, isn't it? I'm sure a lot of people would love to be stuck with THAT dilemma.

E500 Ltd Update

MkB: Have you acquired the E500 Ltd or did you have a change of heart for the 911? Better yet, why not get them both!

Pls post the pics since we rarely see Limiteds in the USA, even then, only on the web.
