The Pits! Any help?

I have some used fogs for my front bumper, but the glass lenses are very pitted, no cracks.

These will be my reserve parts, to use when my originals are damaged etc.
I'd like to refurbish the glass if possible.

Is there a way to polish the glass down to make the surface even and smooth?

Has anyone tried this?

I think Saijinny mentioned something about steelwoolling his windshield!!!! (ye Gods!!!). Is that right???

SuperFine steelwool + glass cleaner will remove tar, bug bits, dirt, etc, and any film that builds up on the windshield without damaging it.

The last time I did it, it was late and I grabbed my stack of Coarse and I ruined my windshield. Do not use anything other than SuperFine. But no, it won't really get rid of pits.

I'm still trying to find a way to refurbish the glass so I'll let you know what I find.

I saw a demo of Glassweld products at SEMA years ago. I would try to find it or someone who provides a service using it.

Thanks Pif;

Did a google on Glasweld.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on their machine, but it looks like I could put elbow grease to it and wet sand it successfully.

Thanks, Shenagles. Exactly what I was looking for.

I had spoken to friends at a bodyshop about sanding, but no details. Now, it's quite clear.
