accelerator cable replacement on 92 400E

accelerator cable replacement on 92 400E
the accelerator cable adjustment plastic pieces broke on my 92 400E.
Do I need to replace the whole cable or just the adjustment pieces?
The cable end is pretty loose now and I have only half the pedal travel as before. With a little wiggling I can get the cable to tighten up but its only temporary.
I searched the forum but I don't see anything on replacement just adjusting the cable.
