Considering an Engine Swap...

So I am thinking of sometime in about 2 years to do an engine swap.

I have an E220 Coupe. My dad bought it new in 1994 and I am "restoring" it. I quote restoring because it only has 62,000 miles and is actually in near new condition (bar worn suspension). No scratches inside or out, no cracks, no fading etc.

It is rarely driven and is more a cruiser + weekend car. The 4 cylinder engine though bothers me, as it seems unnatural for a car that looks like this to have a little 4 banger. Also, a 4 cylinder just isn't powerful nor smooth enough.
Here are my thoughts:

-Put an E320 motor into it. But is it worth it? E320s are cheap to buy already, plus the idea of a motor that came from factory seems unappealing.

-E36 motor if possible... Same as above more or less though

-A M119 motor. This is ideal for me, however the logical side of me says "why not just buy a R129 SL500 roadster for the money"

So here is my question. Is doing any engine conversion worth it?

You have a 62K mile one owner E220 coupe...
Please leave it alone...it has value ...
Swap an engine and it has no value..

Find a nice 400E or E420 if you want more power...or as you stated a R129 500SL / SL 500

Good luck

Does an E220 Coupe have value? I see E320s being sold (in the UK) for a few thousand sterling.

Though, it has never been in an accident, and never had any panel repair etc.
Interior is like new too.

Thanks for the advice though, you make a good point

only 62000 miles!!! don't swap the engine!,take into account this is one of the most reliable engines. I know the poor performance but nowadays economy wins (I refer both fuel consumption and maintenance) (it's only my opinion)
