Killed the buzzer today . . .
Well, I just couldn't stand it any longer - I had to get rid of that annoying buzzer on my Cab. I searched/read the forum about it and the various issues surrounding just unplugging it such as leaving you with no headlight-on warning, key warning (for those so inclined) and loss of the overhead lights on door open. Many posters recommended just muting it with cloth, etc. Some suggested buckling up first, but in a Cab/Coup the seat beat presenter does not activate until after you start the car and are treated to the buzzer.
I wanted to keep the overhead lights and the headlight-on warning buzzer (especially useful after consuming some alternative fuel), but lose the seat belt (I always, always buckle up) and the key in the ignition functions. So, I did the following which I did not see posted anywhere (forgive me if this has already been posted and I missed it).
After disconnecting the (new) battery, I pulled the instrument cluster as detailed here: W124InstClusterRemoval. Then I pulled the connector off the buzzer and carefully removed the clip on the back of the connector to gain access to the pins as shown in photo 1. Then I carefully removed the green (seat belt) wire from pin 1 and the red/green (key-in) wire from pin 2 as shown in photo 2. I then replaced the retaining clip onto the connector and insulated the two removed wires and pins with heat shrink tubing as shown in photo 3 (do not use electrical tape as this is not permanent - the heat under the dash will cause in to slowly unwind and come off - use something permanent). One could just cut these wires, but this procedure is fully reversible. Leaving each of the above pins in will keep that respective function.
And Viola! Silent starts, working overhead lights (with delay feature) and headlight-on warning. It's like having a whole new car!
Anyway, I hope this is useful.

It's easier to just unplug the brown/green connector beneath the driver seat. :-)
Good writeup though! Especially for anyone who may want to remove another buzzer feature as well.
