question re seat belt on 1994

I just bought a 1994 e 320 convertible. Are the seat belts suppose to extend down so you can buckle them. I thought one of the cars I looked at this happened but I am not sure. Thanks Jimbo

When you turn on the ignition the presenter will extend and remain extended until either you buckle the seat belt or about a minute at which point it should retract. The passenger's side should do the same thing if that door was opened before the car is started. If you are having trouble the plastic triangle shaped guide where the belt is can easily be pulled off so you can watch the metal rod in operation.
