Just picked up my Recaro's from the trimmer.

Still need to wire and install the control pad and decide on the mounting.

Done with Merc Palamino with the centers and headrests perforated.

Ed;

I've always liked these seats. Nice to see them in new leather. Great colour, and I really like the style of the perforated inserts!

Very nice!

Do the Ideal seats have one seam on the bottom side bolsters? Classics have two on either side of the switch panel, a more square shaped. Those must smell great too...

Felix

The seats as I purchased had no seams on the side bolsters as in the below pic.
Possibly because the original covering was vinyl?

The trimmer added the double stitched seams on the bolsters.
I agree that the Classics have a nice flat surface for the switch panel as you described.
These panels seem to "float" on the surface.
The panels have not been screwed down in the pix I posted.

The trimmer was surprised at how much leather they took to recover !

hears how i did mine, the supplier from german ebay forgot to send the adapters with the seats, so i made them fit the merc subframes,
this is better because the seats sit much lower, the subframes are about 4" high.
two weeks later, the subframes turned up... so i got a second set of cse's wich have electric adjustments for everything, wich i'm gonna fit in the back, someday...

Nick

How are you doing young man ?

Thanks

I had bookmarked your vids a while back and reviewed them last week...
It makes sense to mount to the stock Merc bases and retain the front/back power adjustment feature.

What I'm finding is the differences in the Classic Recaro's...almost like AMG of the era, no two seats seem to be identical in the area of knobs, stitching, padding, etc...

i am well thanks ed, hope this finds you likewise.
i reckon our seats are infact ideal c, not classic c.

there were also cs and cse. some had knobs like mine, some had triangular three pointed ones...

c classic buttons are set more like the cse buttons and it said classic on the actual plastic next to the switches, ours dont, well mine dont, and yours look similar.

i reon you should just try to get a set of either type, or maybe something off a newer recaro would fit?

AMGTDNJ - the biege seats in the picture you posted are mine. They're currently wrapped up & waiting for my decision on which car to put them in! Onlt set I've ever come across in that color. Just before I bought them, I missed out on a NOS set covered in Palamino - amazing... I would have changed the rest of my interior for those seats.
Wow you sir are lucky! Stay in touch, I'd love to get my hands on em' if you ever decide to let them go. Will you post some pictures of them installed in whatever you put them in??

These are unreal! What did that cost you? What was the condition of them before you had them trimmed?

They still come up on eBay occasionally. I have one with speakers

500ecstacy has a detailed Recaro thread with all the brochures scanned. I think I have all of them.
