![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm looking for ways (since my search for stiffer lowering devices is still going on) to make my car handle better. Anyone install sway bars? Anyone have opinions? Places to look? Pics? etc. . .

Oh boy, just when ksing44 had gone quiet on the subject someone had to open Pandora's box again...
Do a search for SWAYBARS and look for ksing44.
He's obsessed with them!
Here's a few to start you off...

Fighting mod fever
Thanks for remembering me. I didn’t do anything yet. I was planning to get some bars when I exchanged my winter wheels for summer wheels, but I just had new tile and hardwood floors installed and I thought that maybe I should slow down on my spending spree. I have been more focused on the house and I am trying to fight off mod fever. My car really is quite nice already, so I was wondering why I couldn’t be satisfied with it just the way it is.
When I break down and get the bars, I think I will go for E500 rear bar (124-323-77-65) and "limo" front bar (124-323-77-65). The dealer thought that he could get everything I wanted, so OEM upgrade might be the best way to go. Eibach is to be discontinued, but Luke at Tirerack though he would have a few more kits in April.

looking at the listing of sway bars for the 124, there's nothing on here that says it won't fit a 4Matic. Would the one for the 90-92 300E fit my '91 300 4Matic? (Part number: 124-323-55-65)

1990 300E 2.6
sway bars
Buymbparts.com sent a front sway bar from a 4-Matic by mistake for my 1990 300E 2.6. It hit the bottom of the oil pan and bushings (for Sportline bar) would not fit when I attempted install!!!
I have since received and installed the correct Sportline bar on the front. I am waiting to have a mechanic install the rear bar. There is a noticeable difference on twisting, winding roads with just the front bar installed. It is not a sports car but the dip on curves is reduced enough for the car to feel more stable and in control. Ride on straight roads not affected. I have considered the Sport Bilsteins for a future mod but like the ride on the highway with the standard shocks.
I have seem specs for diameters of all sway bars for the 124 series except for the Sportline bars, so I don't know how they compare to the 500E but my guess is that the Sportline bar is lighter duty than that found on the 500E.
One question I do have: Are the Sport Bilsteins only for the shorter Sportline springs? Do they have the same length of extension as the standard U.S. issue shocks?

Search and you will find
I think you should use the search function at number of the different sites to get answers about swaybars and shocks. There is a lot of information available. Here are some threads from Mercedesshop.com about swaybars, shocks, and lowering springs, respectively. There is much more information available, so just search, read, and learn.

You will find a link from "gsxr" that has an amazing, complete list of the bars for a W124. The link is http://www.meimann.com/images/mercedes/W124_stuff/ and then you download the file MB_124_swaybars.xls or MB_124_swaybars.pdf After you have that file and the install directions also found at that link, you will know about all there is to know about swaybars for a W124.
