Beside looking a 100 times better, they actually lite up the road better due to their lens pattern...if you need new lites...get the euros...you won't be sorry...what kind of car is yours? I believe now we in the USA can get euros for almost any year MB...sometimes cheaper than the crddy US spec lites.

These are US-spec '94 headlamps, which are virtually identical to Euro-spec lamps. Note the one-piece design.

It's a '94 E500. I'm glad you like it. Here's another pic:

And here's a link with some good information:

Is that the stock bumper for the 500E? I have a 93 300D...I like that bumper a whole lot more..i like the fogs in the corners....will that bumper fit the 93 300D, since the fenders arent as flared as on the 500E?

Soldsep, the only way to get headlights like the one on that E500 is to get a 93-95 W124 model. Benz gave these years a slight facelift in 93. Another difference in lighting between these and the older versions is that the taillights are only white and red. Whereas yours are probably white, red, and orange.

I don't know about that being the only way to get the headlights like that. There was some guy from Indonesia who (don't ask me why) swapped his 94+ headlamp setup to "American" pre '94 configuration. Of course, he did have to swap, not only his headlights, but also his hood. The grass is always greener, huh?

BTW, Where can I purchase a euroheadlamp setup, white/clear side markers, and clear/white/smoke (haven't decided yet) tail lenses for a good price online or in the San Diego/ So Cal. area?
Thanks in advance.

euro's

soldsep,
i'm attaching a close up,notice the pattern in the lense. it puts out so much more usable it has to be seen to be believed.
it's the best money i've ever spent on any car.

amibiguous,
www.bekkers.com has best price with oem clear bosch corners.

www.adsitco.com has new and used lights, they will also take your old lights as a trade in.

www.eurocarparts-sd.com in san diego

buy oem hella or bosch, don't mess with the "off-brands", there are quality concerns.

there is a thread in hot rod section of www.mercedesshop.com where a man has a source for new oem hella euro lights 500e-450.00 and 300e/400e-375.00. that's a fantastic price for w124 euro's

peter

Thanks guys. I might actualy need these because i already got the Clear corners and some super whites for the corners. I also got some plasma charge bulbs for my head lights. They look great on the outside but when im in the car i can barrely see them. Not as bright as i thought they would get. Maybe this is my solution. Also any ideas on how to get the corners to stay fully on and turn off when signaling. Instead of the Dim to Bright way?

Thanks alot

As far as replacing your low beam bulbs, keep in mind that using any sort of blue-tinted bulb will result in less output. Since the tint filters out all but the blue lightwaves, less light is allowed to leave the bulb, and therefore less light is available to illuminate the road. I had tinted bulbs once upon a time in my halogen-equipped CLK, and I thought they looked pretty cool. That is, until one of them blew out, and I switched back to stock. The factory bulbs, despite their less trendy yellowish hue, definitely did a much better job of lighting up the road. The only legitimate way to dramatically increase your light output is to switch to true Xenon bulbs, ideally OEM. Since there is no OEM fitment for a W124, a retrofit with Euro-spec housings is probably the best reasonable route.

euro headlamps:
The Low beam pattern is less offensive to oncoming traffic because of a sharp cutoff across the top of the beam pattern. On the left side of the beam pattern, the cutoff is horizontal. On the right half of the beam pattern, the cutoff rises to the right at a 15 degree angle (or, alternately, the right side of the cutoff is also horizontal, but is "stepped" upwards with respect to the left side cutoff).

us dot spec headlamps have a fuzzy projection (on wall) that tapers on both sides of the beam.

When the chairman of the D.O.T. decided in the '80's that all imported cars should have the same oblong headlights as American cars, makers like MB had to have plastic "headlight doors" made to fill in the area occupied by the O.E. headlight. MB's sold elsewhere in the world had large, all glass headlights which we call "Euros". Installing these restores your car to its original lighting system which is vastly superior to the U.S. version and updates the look of such models as the 124. To include headlight wipers you will need to obtain motors, arms, lower trim panels, all from a 1994 E320. The large, round, rubber wiper motor shaft seal is from a 126 S Class. P.

'94 E500 & '94 E320 Coupe
For those W124 owners interested, I have a mint set of factory Bosch OEM MB DOT headlights off my '94 E500 (38k) available for sale. These will fit W124: E320 Sedan, E320 Coupe, E420 Sedan, E320 Cabiolet and earlier W124's w/ updated hoodm and are a snap to install.

These are DOT units that came stock on '94 E500 only w/ unique integrated Aux Driving Lamp in the inset (vs. fogs in other W124) inset center. They have flat face one piece glass lenses w/ no scratches, no pits, no dirt, and crystal clear. These are unique factory Bosch headlights only available on N America E500's.

They are, however, not cheap used or new: wholesale on the internet they cost ~$700/pair, they retail at over $1100/pair.

>Compared to my Hella E500 E-codes= they are approximately 60% close in lighting- why? E-codes have different construction on the inside of the light and have different lense focusing etching pattern.

>Compared to the lighting on my '94 E320 Coupe (which is hared with later W124's) they are approximately 60% better...more superior to the DOT Euro-look flat face glass lights that came stock on my '94 E320 Coupe. The Coupe headlights do not have that chroming treatment of the E500.

These have chrome framing on the interior glass window and also chrome framing around the Aux Driving Lamps.

Asking $550/pair + shipping from San Francisco. Please e-mail me privately if interested: fulgence.dulay@uboc.com

tks-fad

New rear and front headlamps

Where can the headlamp and tail lamp be purchased in the San Diego area?

Daez_Nutz, your car looks very nice, especially with the wheels from the recent SL. I've never seen those on any other car, but they look good on the E-Class.

Thanks, Craig. The SL wheels were mounted on the car when I bought it. To tell you the truth, I'm not all that fond of them, and will probably replace them with some 18" Brabus when I get the chance.
