just checked the fixing list again. are the climate control units problematic. while it was working it would at times switch functions on its own, no fan motor control, etc. now no control at all and hot air flows out the windshield defrost vents. at speed the air flow is more pronounced

pushing the control buttons or moving the temp wheel does nothing. what is the best way to bypass the coolant coming into the heater core

My own 300E is has full blower function but the AC compressor isn't kicking in! See my other post in the forum.

If you just want to stop the hot air blowing into the vehicle, you can remove the blower fuse. At least then you'll able to drive it without cooking.

I'm new to this, so I don't have a clue how to fix the climate control unit. I've seen quite a few used units on Ebay though.

If you want to stop the hot coolant flow through the heater core, squeeze the ruuber hose shut on the inlet side (driver side near the vacuum booster). Older MBZ climate control units sucked, but replacement is easy and you can find a refurbished or a used one for a decent price.

Here are some examples:

blower is inop. hot air only flows when car is moving. gonna pull the climate controller and see what the p/n is. anyone ever open one to see if it is something obvious you could fix yourself?

Blower motor is easily accessible from the engine compartment. No, I never tried to take th electronic climate control unit apart. I am not good in electronics, so why even bother.

blower works and was working before all control was lost. pulled the climate controller just to look at the part number. looked normal nothing looked fried. just want it to work again. will try to find a usable one to diagnose

try turning ignithion on, turn the blower on and then wiggle the ingition key in "on" position, see it the blower reacts. A while back I had a problem with blower quitting on me. It turned out to be a bad ignition switch.
