Late model E320 Cabriolet revs to 2500 to 3000 rpm on cold start up for about 3 seconds. I know a certain amount of this is meant to happen but it revs too high and for too long compared to an identical car I also own, and the valve gear is complaining bitterly.

Any ideas on how to make it rev less, for a shorter time, before my top end dies.
