What year/model 300E came with LSD?
Hey Guys,
I'm after a LSD for my 87' 300E. I don't suspect we got too many sports models sent down here to Australia but you never know?
What are the years/models that they came out in in general? Are there any other models that will fit?
Thanks,
Tim.

OK. The true LSD form the 190 16V 3.07 or 3.27 diffs that fit with little rooting around. Finding one down here would be near impossible unless I stumble upon one
There aint nooooo way here are any of these Cosworth 2.3/2.5L 16v's came down here. If they did however, you won't find a LSD lying around some wreckers Jay. I'm going to have to get one from a V8 maybe & customise it? or go with the M104 300E that had the bigger diff perhaps?
Basically, where it stands. The diff in my stock 300E is only good for 200-250hp! That's great since I'll be pushing 350-450wheel hp! Looks like the jigs up for the diff boys ey?

The LSD diff from the 190 2.3 AMG fits right in, I believe.
My car comes with the ASD system, which they tell me is a "weak" LSD (locking about 18%). I think that's about right, because on smooth asphalt my car always goes sideways, but on water it spins too soon and just goes with 1 wheel. Weak LSD's act exactly like that.
An interesting note, though, is how Lebanese mechanics strengthen LSD's. They insert copper or tin plates in the differential itself, which effectively increases lock. Tried it on my old M30 and it worked like a charm.

If you're interested, I can find you a 2.3 LSD over here. They're quite plentiful. They run about 200-250$ if I remember correctly. Tell me what you think.
Although I'm scared to think of shipping between us and down under... :P
